Quick Tips
5 Tips to get Press Coverage at a Trade Show:
- Invite and Schedule the Press to visit your booth – Invite and schedule press to your booth to get a demonstration or an overview of your new product, service or promotion. Brief employees working at the booth to watch for editors so they can welcome them quickly and direct them to a single point of contact .
- Submit Press Releases to editors in advance -Make sure to submit your releases as early as possible and then contact editors prior to the show to ask for coverage in the daily publications at the show. If you provide photographs, factual and newsworthy copy you are more likely to be published.
- Create Press Kits for the pressroom - Create custom folders with your brand/logo embossed or printed and use them as professional press kits that include your press releases, background information, and even digital photographs on a CD that can be used in publications. Deliver these press kits to pressroom as soon as it is open and make sure to check the supply daily.
- Prepare key talking points - Develop key talking points about your product and services that you want to communicate to the press or anyone visiting your booth. Make sure all booth workers know and understand these points. If possible, introduce your new product, service or promotion at a press conference and be prepared to keep coming back to your key points. Keep your information simple and highlight the key benefits to the customer.
- Provide unique giveaway to press - Provide a giveaway item specific to the industry publication writers so they will remember you after they have returned to the office. Ask your MarketLift representative for ideas.
